Are you a passionate Maternal and Child Health Nurse looking for a flexible role where you can make a real difference in the lives of local children and families?
We are seeking a Casual Maternal and Child Health Nurse to join our team and provide high-quality service delivery during periods of permanent staff leave. This role plays a vital part in ensuring continuity of care for families across our community, helping children achieve their best possible health and developmental outcomes.
About the Role
As a Casual Maternal and Child Health Nurse, you will work provide evidence-based care, health promotion, early intervention and support to families with children from birth to school age. This flexible role offers the opportunity to step into established services and maintain strong relationships with families during times of workforce transition, ensuring clients continue to receive responsive, accessible and high-quality care.
How You Will Make a Difference
Every interaction matters in Maternal and Child Health. In this role, you will:
- Provide families with trusted advice and support during some of the most important years of their child's development.
- Ensure continuity of care when permanent staff are unavailable, helping families feel supported and connected to services.
- Identify early concerns relating to child health, development, wellbeing and family functioning, facilitating timely intervention and referral.
- Partner with parents and caregivers to build confidence, strengthen parenting capacity and promote positive child outcomes.
- Support equitable access to Maternal and Child Health services through a flexible and responsive approach to service delivery.
About You We are looking for a nurse who is:
- Passionate about improving outcomes for children and families.
- An excellent communicator with the ability to build rapport and establish trusting relationships with diverse families.
- Skilled at working collaboratively and in partnership with parents, carers, colleagues and community services.
- Versatile, adaptable and responsive to changing service demands and client needs.
- Able to work independently while contributing positively to a supportive team environment.
- Committed to delivering family-centred, culturally safe and inclusive practice.
Essential Qualifications
- Registered Nurse Division 1 with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA).
- Registered Midwife.
- Postgraduate qualification in Child, Family and Community Health (or equivalent Maternal and Child Health qualification recognised in Victoria).
- Current Victorian Driver Licence.
- Current Working with Children Check.
Desirable Attributes The ideal candidate may also bring one or more of the following additional skills:
- Accredited Nurse Immuniser qualification and experience delivering childhood immunisation programs.
- International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) qualification or equivalent lactation support experience.
- Experience planning and facilitating parent education groups..
- Experience working within Enhanced Maternal and Child Health or multidisciplinary service settings.
