Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Financial Crime Operations Analyst to join our team and play a hands-on role in detecting, investigating and remediating fraud and financial crime.
n
This is an operational role suited to someone with direct experience in transaction monitoring, alert handling and end-to-end financial crime investigations within an APRA or AUSTRAC-regulated environment.

What You'll Do
n
n
- Investigate and remediate fraud and financial crime across products, services and digital channels, working closely with the Financial Crime Operations Lead and broader Financial Crime team.
n
- Conduct transaction monitoring, alert assessment and case investigations, identifying suspicious activity and emerging financial crime risks.
n
- Undertake customer due diligence and investigate high-risk transactions, escalations and referrals, including PEP, jurisdiction risk and DASP cases.
n
- Manage financial crime cases end-to-end, from initial triage and investigation through to recovery, remediation and resolution.
n
- Prepare and submit Suspicious Matter Reports (SMRs) to AUSTRAC, ensuring investigations and supporting documentation are accurate and complete.
n
- Monitor digital channels to identify and prevent account takeover, identity theft and other forms of fraud.
n
- Support financial crime and fraud incident management, including investigation, escalation and remediation activities.
n
- Maintain accurate, detailed and auditable investigation records in line with regulatory and organisational requirements.

- Identify trends,
patterns and emerging risks and contribute to improvements in financial crime controls and processes.

What We're Looking For
n
n
- Demonstrated hands-on financial crime operations experience in an APRA or AUSTRAC-regulated organisation.
n
- Strong experience across transaction monitoring, alert handling and case management.
n
- Proven ability to investigate fraud, financial crime and suspicious activity across multiple products and channels.
n
- Experience conducting customer due diligence and enhanced due diligence, particularly for higher-risk customers and transactions.
n
- Knowledge of PEPs, jurisdiction risk, DASP and other financial crime risk indicators.
n
- Experience preparing SMRs for AUSTRAC and maintaining high-quality investigation records.
n
- Understanding of fraud typologies including account takeover and identity-related fraud.
n
- Strong analytical and investigative skills, with the ability to assess information, identify patterns and make sound risk-based decisions.
n
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly document and articulate investigation outcomes.
n
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple cases and competing priorities.
n
