Role details The Women's Health Unit at the Mackay Base Hospital is seeking applications for a Midwife Unit Manager to join their team on a permanent basis.

Your opportunity The Midwife Unit Manager is an employee who is a registered midwife who:
- Is appointed to an advanced practice midwifery position; and
- Demonstrates a specialised clinical expertise and/or specialised skill set.
About The Team The Women's Health Unit (WHU) is located in B Block (ground floor) of the Mackay Base Hospital. Antenatal Clinics and specialist outpatients is located in A Block (ground floor). The Birth Centre is located beside the WHU in a standalone building. The WHU offers a Maternity service, The Birth Centre model of care, Midwifery Group Practice, Neonatal service and Specialist Gynaecology services. The current facility has: 6 Birth Suite rooms, 4 Assessment Beds, 20 Ward beds, 8 Special Care Nursery beds. The WHU is defined as a level 4 Maternity and Neonatal Service as defined in the Clinical Services Capability Framework.
The unit is capable of providing maternity care for low and moderate-risk women. The service is multi-disciplinary and offers several maternity models of care, including providing or referring to midwifery community care.
Antenatal care for women with moderate risk of obstetric complications may be on-site or in the community under the care of a midwife or registered medical practitioner in consultation with or under the care of an obstetrician, also known as Shared Care. Multi-disciplinary team care is provided to women with high risk pregnancies; Antenatal Diabetes clinic is a combined team effort which provides women access to medical Obstetric and Endocrinology care and a qualified Diabetes Educator.
