We are seeking an experienced Mine Surveyor to join our team and provide accurate, reliable survey support across mining operations, mine development and infrastructure activities.
This is a hands-on operational role working closely with Mining Engineers, Geologists, Operations and Technical Services to deliver high-quality survey data that supports safe and efficient mining operations.
About the Role
As a Mine Surveyor, you will be responsible for field surveying, set-outs, volume calculations, data management and providing technical survey support across site. You will play a key role in ensuring mining and infrastructure works are completed accurately and in accordance with approved designs, plans and operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct field surveys to support mining, infrastructure and operational activities
- Collect and record accurate survey data using total stations, GPS and other surveying equipment
- Complete survey set-outs for mine infrastructure, roads, drainage, buildings and site works
- Perform volume calculations, including cut and fill, stockpiles and mine measurements
- Monitor and verify site works against approved designs and specifications
- Prepare and maintain accurate survey plans, maps, reports and documentation
- Support survey data validation, quality control and verification activities
- Utilise CAD, GIS and survey software for drafting, mapping and data management
- Maintain and care for surveying equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability
- Work closely with Mining, Technical Services, Geology, Operations and contractors
- Provide practical survey support to assist with mine planning and production activities
- Ensure all survey activities are completed in accordance with site safety, environmental and operational requirements
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience in mine surveying, engineering surveying or a related field
- Experience working within open pit mining operations highly regarded
- Strong understanding of surveying principles, equipment and field practices
- Experience with survey, CAD, GIS or mine planning software
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accurate data
- Excellent problem-solving and organisational skills
- Ability to work effectively with operational and technical teams
- Experience with volume calculations and mine reconciliation highly regarded
- Drone/aerial surveying experience highly regarded
Requirements
- Relevant qualification in Surveying, Spatial Sciences or a related discipline
- Current Australian Driver's Licence
- Ability to successfully complete site medical and drug & alcohol requirements
- Ability to work in a FIFO mining environment
Desirable:
- Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Surveying
- Certificate IV in Surveying and Spatial Information Services
- Drone Pilot Licence (RePL)
- First Aid Certificate
