About OzHarvest:
OzHarvest is a leading food rescue organisation on a mission to ‘Nourish our Country’ by stopping good food from going to waste and delivering it to charities that help feed people in need. Through our education programs and our advocacy work, we hope to inspire others to change behaviour and help reach the national target of halving food waste by 2030.
About the Role:
The Northern NSW Team Leader is OzHarvest's local connector based in Newcastle, building relationships across the community, keeping the local team connected to purpose and to each other, and ensuring the office runs smoothly.
The role's focus, in order of priority, is:
1. Representing OzHarvest locally and building community and council relationships.
2. Fostering team culture and connection.
3. Providing light-touch oversight of office facilities and administration.

Leading Teams and Cultivating a Positive Culture:
- Motivate and inspire the local team, providing a connection to purpose and the broader organisation.
- Foster teamwork through social and work events that bring the team together.
- Encourage collaboration across all teams including Food Rescue Operations, NEST, Nourish, and FEAST.
- Work closely with People & Culture to drive culture, safety, and learning initiatives.
- Address and resolve conflicts within the team, promoting a harmonious and productive atmosphere.
- Facilitate clear communication within the team and with stakeholders, ensuring everyone is informed and aligned.
- Support managers in recruitment and inductions.
- Play a role in evaluating and developing team members' performance.
Support the NSW & ACT Engagement Team:
- Assist the Engagement team with local opportunities and delivery of state and national campaigns.
- Be one of the local "faces" of OzHarvest for media opportunities, where appropriate and in collaboration with Impact and Engagement teams.
- Assist in identifying local fundraising and engagement opportunities for all programs.
Program Support:
- Support a consistent safety and customer service approach across the local team.
- Assist Engagement and Advocacy teams with local government relations opportunities when required.
Office & Facility Management:
- Keep the office tidy and well supplied and liaise with the landlord and contract cleaners for the Newcastle premises, coordinating with Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbour as needed.
- Manage common areas and shared facilities, including meeting rooms, kitchens, parking, and lockers.
- Handle day-to-day office administration, including stationery, supplies, and general enquiries.
At OzHarvest we are a small team and all work together to ensure we deliver on our purpose to Nourish Our Country. To achieve this:
- Support major events and take on additional responsibilities when needed.
- Maximise contributions and minimise costs wherever possible.
- Seek in-kind support, donations of goods, and the best supplier quotes.
- Direct potential financial donor relationships to the Engagement and/or Impact teams.
- Volunteer outside standard hours when required to support our purpose.
- Undertake other duties as reasonably required.
Personal Specifications:
Qualifications:
- Valid Police Check, or ability to obtain one.
- Valid driver's licence.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
- Minimum 2 years' experience in operations, administration, business development, or HR.
- Understanding of, or existing knowledge of, the Northern NSW community and corporate landscape.
- Demonstrated customer service capability.
- Excellent administration and business management skills.
- Results-oriented team player.
- Demonstrated project management and problem-solving skills.
Personal Abilities and Aptitudes:
- Energetic, positive, and proactive.
- Action-oriented with a drive to support team members to achieve growth targets.
- Natural relationship builder and leader with integrity, reliability, maturity, initiative, and passion.
