The Role
Full-time, on-site at our Hills, NSW hospital.
The Nurse Unit Manager oversees the nursing team, coordinating staffing, workflow, and clinical standards across emergency, general practice, surgery, and critical care.
Day to day you will:
- Supervise and mentor the nursing team
- Ensure consistent delivery of high-quality patient care
- Support rostering and workforce planning
- Support efficient triage and treatment of emergency and hospitalised patients
- Collaborate closely with veterinarians and support staff to optimise patient outcomes
- Maintain infection control and safety protocols
- Uphold hospital policies and regulatory requirements
- Contribute to process improvement and training and development initiatives
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and client-focused team culture
- Complete associated administrative tasks
What You'll Bring
- Demonstrated nursing leadership and management skills, with experience supervising or coordinating clinical teams
- Robust clinical foundation with the ability to support evidence-based practice
- Advanced nursing and critical care skills, ideally within an emergency or intensive care setting
- High standards of patient care, including triage, monitoring, compassionate patient handling, and clear client communication
- Relevant veterinary nursing qualification (Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or equivalent) and current professional registration where applicable
- Experience in a 24/7 or emergency veterinary hospital environment (highly desirable)
- Proficiency in clinical documentation, veterinary practice management software, and infection control and safety protocols
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a diverse, fast-paced team
- Commitment to continuous professional development and to supporting the growth of nursing staff
Salary $65,000 to $90,000 per annum, commensurate with experience.
