Primary objective To lead and coordinate a small team to ensure an efficient and orderly working workplace. Ensure policies and procedures reflect best practice are documented, visible, have timelines and monitored to ensure work is completed as expected.
Context statement The Northern Territory School of Distance Education (NTSDE) supports and delivers a range of educational services to students, resident in the Northern Territory or temporarily living interstate or overseas. NTSDE collaborates with home schools, supporting educators to deliver high quality, innovative and flexible senior secondary online programs. School staff must be prepared to travel, use advanced online technologies,
and work in both online and face-to-face modes.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide day to day management of work unit staff to ensure administrative processes are met, including quality assure
school calendar, meeting schedules and timelines.
- Lead the ongoing development of the administrative policies and procedures.
- Organisation of School Council Meetings and school wide meetings including documentation.
- Participate in the school’s quality improvement process and provide administrative and technology support to the
Principal and school executive team to improve the school’s organisational performance.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated successful experience as a middle manager in all aspects of administrative management within a school
environment, including leading a small team and coordination of staff.
- Demonstrated ability to determine priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic workplace.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills to support positive liaisons with internal and external stakeholders.
- High level oral and written communication skills including the ability to provide advice to senior management and consult and negotiate effectively with diverse groups and diverse cultures including students, teachers, parent and community members. Proven ability to maintain integrity and confidentiality.
1. Demonstrated sound computer literacy skills including experience with the effective use of various office applications such
as Word, Excel, Outlook and online applications.

1. Experience working in a school environment
Further information The successful applicant will be required to hold a current Northern Territory working with children clearance notice or the ability to obtain.
