About the Organisation
KAC is based in South Hedland and is the registered Native Title Body Corporate of the Kariyarra People with a focus to provide native title and related services to support the Kariyarra People in managing their native title rights and interests.
KAC advocates for cultural integrity, economic development and community wellbeing for the Kariyarra people. KAC operates in partnership with the traditional owners, local Aboriginal communities, government and industry to support growth, self-determination and long-term sustainability for our members.
About the Role
KAC is seeking an organised, experienced and values-driven individual for the Office of the CEO Coordinator role, to provide administrative, governance and other such support as required to the CEO while also supporting the Native Title Negotiation Committee administratively and operationally. This will be a 12 month fixed term contract, with the possibility of extension or permanency subject to funding and performance.
The Office of the CEO Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the CEO to ensure KAC is engaging effectively with KAC employees and external stakeholders. You will also assist the KAC Board and the Negotiations Committee to ensure that KAC Native Title matters are dealt with in a compliant and culturally respectful manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide support to the CEO in ensuring the legislative compliance of all activities of KAC;
- Coordinate and manage the CEO’s dairy, mail, emails, telephone calls, travel arrangements and meetings;
- Provide high level of administrative support to the CEO;
- Provide administration support to assist the CEO,
in-house counsel and Negotiation Vommittee in Native Title matters;
- Research and collect information/data for key meetings;
- Coordinate and assist with meetings, preparation of agendas and taking minutes for Board Meetings; and
- Represent KAC with professionalism, transparency and cultural integrity.
Essential Selection Criteria
- A strong capacity to identify and support compliance with corporate governance requirements;
- Strong communication skills and an ability to adapt and balance priorities within tight deadlines;
- Sound knowledge of risk management practices and Health, Safety and Environment requirements;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Strong planning, multitasking and time management skills;
- Highly developed computer skills – including an intermediate to high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office;
- Commitment to culturally respectful engagement and strong alignment with the values and aspirations of Aboriginal communities.
- Strong problem-solving skills and be able to work efficiently and calmly under pressure;
- Robust interpersonal skills and be able to build and maintain professional relationships;
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality;
- Demonstrate strong professional boundaries;
- Demonstrate strong initiative and be able to follow through consistently with tasks;
- High levels of personal integrity, ethical judgement and accountability;
- Current driver’s license (‘C’ class as minimum); and
- National Police clearance, Working with Children check and details of 2 relevant professional referees.
Desirable Selection Criteria
- Possess a minimum of 3 years of experience in the same or a similar role;
- Qualifications in Business Management or similar;
- Computer literacy and proficiency with PC's/Apple computers including word processing, spreadsheet and data software;
- Experience working with Aboriginal people or in a cross-cultural environment; and
- Familiarity with native title, land use agreements or cultural heritage management.
Salary and conditions The role will be based at the South Hedland KAC office. KAC offers a generous salary and entitlements package (including salary packaging) for the right person. These entitlements include:
- Housing and Utility Allowance;
- Location Allowance;
- 5 weeks of annual leave (with 17.5% annual leave loading); and
- Supplied tools of trade (i.e. laptop and mobile telephone).
