Operations & Business Manager

Central Coast NSW | Privately Owned Specialist Contracting Business We are a well-established, privately owned specialist contracting business looking for a strong, practical leader to help run and grow our operations.

The business operates in a field-based, equipment-intensive environment with crews working across multiple projects.

We are looking for someone who can work closely with the Director, lead people well, make sound operational decisions and help improve the business in a practical and commercially sensible way.

The role

You will take increasing responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the business and play an important role in its continued growth.

The position will involve operations, people, clients and general business improvement.

Your responsibilities will include

- Leading and supporting field crews and operational staff
- Planning crews, equipment and upcoming projects
- Making sure jobs are properly prepared before mobilisation
- Solving operational issues quickly and practically
- Building accountability while maintaining a strong team culture
- Recruiting, developing and retaining good people
- Improving productivity, utilisation and job performance
- Managing routine client communication and project issues
- Identifying unnecessary costs, downtime and inefficiencies
- Helping develop supervisors and future leaders within the business
- Working closely with the Director on growth and business improvement
- Taking ownership of problems and seeing them through

Who we are looking for The most important part of this role is leadership. We want someone who is good with people, adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-moving field environment.

You need to be able to build relationships with crews, communicate professionally with clients and understand that good operational decisions also need to make commercial sense.





Experience managing people and operations in industries such as the following would be highly regarded:

- Drilling or geotechnical services
- Civil construction
- Mining or mining services
- Earthmoving or plant hire
- Utilities
- Environmental field services
- Engineering or construction services
- Other equipment and labour-intensive field businesses

Direct drilling experience would be advantageous, but it is not essential. We are more interested in finding the right leader with strong people, operational and commercial skills than simply someone with industry experience.
