Birchal, Australia's leading licensed crowd-sourced funding ( CSF ) intermediary, is looking for a Paralegal to join our legal team. We connect innovative companies with passionate investors, helping them reach their funding ambitions while giving everyday Australians access to unique investment opportunities.

In this role, you'll work closely with our Head of Legal, getting hands-on exposure to the due diligence and regulatory process that sits behind every CSF offer we publish. It's a great way to build real experience in financial services regulation without needing years of practice behind you.

This role is perfect for a university student studying law, or a recent law graduate, who is highly organised, has excellent attention to detail, and wants genuine exposure to the quick-moving world of fintech and crowd-sourced funding. Here's a glimpse of the things you'll be working on as Paralegal:

Gatekeeper & Compliance

- Support the legal team's gatekeeper process by reviewing CSF Offer Documents and supporting materials against Birchal's compliance requirements
- Review background checks and other due diligence materials on issuing companies and their officers, flagging issues for follow-up
- Assist with compliance record-keeping and reporting across live and completed campaigns

Legal Research & Document Support

- Conduct legal research on the Corporations Act, ASIC regulatory guides, and other laws relevant to the CSF regime
- Help draft and proofread internal memos, correspondence, and template documents





General

- Provide organised, reliable support to the legal team's day-to-day workload
- Help track deadlines, approvals, and document versions across multiple concurrent campaigns
- Pitch in on ad hoc legal and compliance projects as they come up

What We're Looking For

- Currently studying a Bachelor of Laws, Juris Doctor, or equivalent (penultimate or final year preferred), or a recent law graduate
- Exceptionally organised, with genuine attention to detail and comfort working to a checklist/process
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

- Strong written communication skills
- Proactive and reliable, comfortable asking questions when something isn't clear
- Interest in financial services regulation, startups, or fintech is a bonus, not essential
- Available 2-3 days/week on a casual basis (Monday - Thursday), with flexibility around exam and semester commitments
- Must be willing to undergo a background check including police check to comply with Birchal’s AFSL requirements.
