About the role An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Paralegal to join our Sydney office's busy and collaborative Workers Compensation department on a casual basis. You will join a team comprising a Partner, Senior Associate, and Lawyer as well as three fantastic secretaries. The team is recognised for its expertise in managing workers compensation claims, work injury damages, and workers compensation recoveries in the areas of construction, health and education.
This is a fast-paced role where no two days are the same, and you will play an integral part in ensuring the smooth running of matters for leading Australian insurers.
This busy role may include the following responsibilities:
- Preparation of chronologies
- Collating briefs to Counsel
- Preparation of court documents
- Preparation of mediation bundles and document indexes
- Legal research
- Discovery
- Document analysis
- Drafting letters of instruction
- Responding to enquiries General administrative duties
About you Our ideal candidate would be a law student in the third year or later of their degree, who is available to commit to at least three days of work per week. He or she would have prior experience as a Paralegal in workers compensation or another area of insurance. While experience on the defendant side would be valuable, we would also love to hear from candidates with experience in plaintiff firms. Some of the qualities we are looking for include:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Well-developed legal research skills Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to team work
