About the role
As a Medical Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for our patients, playing an key role in their healthcare experience. You will provide a welcoming reception service while supporting our General Practitioners and nursing team with efficient day-to-day administration.
Key responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors in a warm, compassionate and professional manner.
- Manage appointments, phone enquiries and incoming calls.
- Triage and appropriately direct patient enquiries.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records and databases.
- Process patient billings, Medicare, private health fund and third-party invoices.
- Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence, including scanning, faxing and secure messaging.
- Assist doctors and nursing staff with administrative support.
- Ensure reception, waiting areas and consulting rooms are clean, tidy and presentable.
- Provide exceptional customer service while maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy.
About you
- Has 1–2 years' experience in medical reception or healthcare administration (highly preferred).
- Has excellent communication, active listening and interpersonal skills.
- Is highly organised and able to multitask in a busy environment.
- Has strong computer skills and confidence learning current systems.
- Has experience with Best Practice medical software (highly regarded).
- Remains calm, professional and friendly under pressure.
- Understands the importance of patient privacy and medical confidentiality.
- Is reliable, compassionate and genuinely enjoys helping people.
- Is flexible and available to work across rostered clinic shifts.
- Is willing to work across our Butler and Merriwa locations.
