A large financial services firm is looking for a Payroll Specialist to join their payroll team, reporting to the Payroll Manager. This is a fast-paced role in a growing organisation where you'll manage payroll at scale and own the onboarding process for new starters.
About the role
You'll be part of the payroll operations team at a rapidly expanding wealth management firm. The team processes monthly payroll for around 400 permanent staff, and with the business growing quickly, you'll be managing regular new starter onboarding from a payroll perspective. This isn't a static role — you'll need to be organised, proactive, and comfortable with changing priorities as the firm scales.
What you'll be doing
You'll own the processing of monthly payroll cycles using ADP, ensuring accuracy and timeliness across 400+ staff. You'll manage current starter onboarding from a payroll angle, setting up tax files, superannuation, leave balances, and all associated documentation. You'll maintain payroll records and reconcile payroll data against source documentation.
You'll respond to payroll enquiries from employees and managers, troubleshooting issues efficiently.
You'll support with leave administration and tax compliance activities. You'll work closely with HR and Finance teams to ensure payroll integrations run smoothly and identify process improvements as the business scales.
What we're looking for
You have solid payroll experience, ideally in a financial services environment. You're proficient with ADP or similar payroll systems. You're detail-oriented and can manage high volumes of transactions without losing accuracy. You're organised and can juggle competing priorities during peak periods — monthly payroll runs, new starter processing, ad-hoc queries. You communicate clearly and can explain payroll concepts to non-payroll staff.
