Therapy Assistant – Albany
Help us turn therapy goals into everyday progress.
Our Therapy Assistants play an important role in helping people build skills, confidence and independence.
As part of our committment to supporting Albany and the Great Southern region we are growing our local allied health team. Alongside recruitment for Occupational Therapy and Speech Pathology roles, we are looking for a Therapy Assistant (Allied Health Assistant) to work with our clinicians to deliver high-quality, person-centred therapy supports.
This is part time position, working three days per week. We will also consider applications from candidates seeking a casual role.
If you care about doing meaningful work, building genuine relationships and seeing the difference consistent therapy can make, we'd like to hear from you.
The role
As a Therapy Assistant, you will work with clients to implement therapy programs developed and overseen by qualified allied health professionals.
Your work will include:
- Delivering therapy activities prescribed and delegated by clinicians
- Supporting clients to build skills, capacity and independence
- Preparing activities and resources aligned with individual therapy goals
- Observing client participation and progress and providing feedback to clinicians
- Maintaining accurate and timely documentation
- Participating in supervision, case discussions and professional development
- Building positive relationships with clients, families and other members of their support network
You won't be working in isolation. You will receive comprehensive clinical guidance and explicit therapy plans, with opportunities to ask questions, build your capability and contribute to meaningful client outcomes.
About you
Qualifications and experience matter, but so does how you approach the work.
We're looking for someone who:
- Genuinely enjoys helping people achieve greater independence and quality of life
- Is reliable, organised and comfortable working in the community
- Communicates clearly and professionally
- Takes feedback well and isn't afraid to ask questions
- Can work independently while recognising when something needs to be escalated
- Brings good judgement, initiative and attention to detail
- Believes excellent customer service belongs in healthcare
We welcome applications from current students of an allied health discipline including Speech Pathology, Occupational Therapy, or Physiotherapy, candidates who have a Certificate III or IV in Allied Health Assistance or another relevant qualification. Experience in disability, aged care, community services or allied health would also be valuable.
