Science Technical Assistant (Trainee) – FOR GRADUATING YEAR 12 KINGSWOOD COLLEGE STUDENTS ONLY

Dear graduating Year 12 students,

Are you interested in science and looking for an opportunity to gain practical experience while taking your next steps beyond school? Why not come back to Kingswood, this time as part of the team. ​

Kingswood College is offering a Science Technical Assistant (Trainee) position exclusively to our own graduating Year 12 students.

If you’ve enjoyed science at school, are considering further study or a career in a science-related field or simply want some great hands-on experience to add to your resume, this could be the perfect opportunity to get started.

Working alongside our Science Laboratory Coordinator, you’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into making Science happen at Kingswood. This is a genuine entry-level training role – you’ll be supported and supervised while you learn.

The role is one day per week during term time, on a casual basis for 12 months, commencing in Term 1, 2027, making it a great option to fit alongside your other commitments.

What you’ll be doing:

- Preparing solutions, stains and media under direction.
- Setting up and clearing equipment and materials for science classes.
- Explicit classroom demonstrations/activities.
- Supporting teaching and technical staff with laboratory safety measures.




- Assisting with stocktaking and record keeping.
- Undertaking simple maintenance of laboratory equipment and reporting any damage or repairs required.

You might be a great fit if you:

- Are a graduating Year 12 Kingswood College student.
- Have successfully completed one or more Year 12 science subjects.
- A passion and strong interest in Science and pursuing a Science related career.
- Value learning and can follow instructions and safety procedures.
- Are highly reliable, organised and have good attention to detail
- Enjoy being part of a team and are happy to be hands-on
- Would love some practical workplace experience to complement your next steps after school.

Most importantly, we’re not looking for someone who already knows how to do everything. This is a trainee role designed to boost your skills and experience in the science and education industry, under the guidance of our laboratory team.
