About the Role
Belair Gardens is seeking a dedicated, compassionate Residential Care Officer to join our team full-time. The successful candidate will provide care, support, and supervision to residents in a residential care setting, promoting their wellbeing, independence, and quality of life in a safe and supportive setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individual support and care to residents in accordance with their care plans and personal goals.
- Assist residents with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, household tasks, and community participation.
- Monitor residents' wellbeing and report any changes in behaviour, health, or support needs.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with residents, families, carers, and other stakeholders.
- Support residents to achieve greater independence, social inclusion, and participation in community activities.
- Assist with implementing and reviewing individualised care and support plans.
- Maintain accurate records, progress notes, incident reports, and other required documentation.
- Ensure a safe, clean, and supportive living environment for all residents.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies, incidents, and challenging behaviours in accordance with organisational policies and procedures.
- Liaise with healthcare professionals, support coordinators,
and community service providers to facilitate effective care and service delivery.
- Promote residents' rights, dignity, privacy, and choice at all times.
- Adhere to all relevant legislation, residential care standards, workplace health and safety requirements, and organisational policies.
Essential Requirements
- Relevant qualification in Community Services, Disability Support, Individual Support, Social Services, or a related field.
- At least 1 year of experience working in residential care, disability support, aged care, or community services.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to person-centred care and supporting individual choice and independence.
- Current National Police Check (or ability to obtain one).
- Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Current Driver's Licence (preferred).
