Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Fitter/Welder to support mining and industrial maintenance projects. The successful candidate will have robust mechanical fitting, welding, fabrication and fixed plant maintenance experience.

About You

· Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Fitter/Welder) or equivalent.

· Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience; 8 years’ experience highly regarded.

· Experience with mine-site fixed plant and shutdown maintenance.

· Strong skills in mechanical fitting, welding and fabrication.

· Experience with pumps, coupling alignment, mechanical seals, valves and hydraulic equipment.

· Competent in STT, GTAW, ARC, coded and pulse welding.

· Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics.

· Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

· Strong commitment to safety, teamwork and quality.

Key Responsibilities

1. Carry out preventative, corrective and breakdown maintenance on mine-site fixed plant equipment.

2. Inspect fixed plant machinery and identify mechanical faults, wear, damage and potential equipment failures.

3. Disassemble, inspect, repair, replace and reassemble mechanical components and equipment.

4. Perform fitting and welding work associated with the repair and maintenance of fixed plant.

5.



Maintain and repair conveyors, conveyor frames, pulleys, rollers, chutes, hoppers, feeders and associated structures.

6. Carry out maintenance and repairs on crushers, screens and other mineral-processing equipment.

7. Fabricate, modify and repair structural and mechanical components in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications and site requirements.

8. Cut, grind, drill, gouge and prepare metal components for repair, fabrication and installation.

9. Fit, align and install mechanical components to ensure correct operation and equipment alignment.

10. Replace and maintain bearings, shafts, couplings, guards and other mechanical components.

11. Assist with planned plant shutdowns, major maintenance activities and equipment overhauls.

12. Read and interpret engineering drawings, maintenance instructions, equipment manuals and specifications.

13. Conduct testing and inspections following maintenance and repair work to ensure equipment is safe and fit for operation.

14. Follow site safety procedures, permit requirements, isolation procedures and other mine-site health and safety requirements.
