For more than 40 years, the North Qld Export Terminal, located at the Port of Abbot Point, has demonstrated its commitment to safety, efficiency, responsibility, and partnership with the local community.

APO has been contracted by North Queensland Export Terminal Pty Ltd to manage operations of it’s coal export terminal at the Port of Abbot Point - Australia’s northernmost coal port - located 25 kilometres north of Bowen, between Townsville and Mackay, serving as the gateway to the Whitsundays.

Abbot Point Operations has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Payroll Advisor to join our team and play a pivotal role in coordinating and executing the APO payroll function processes and activities in accordance with EA and other contractual or process determined requirements and relevant statutory obligations. Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, you will also have involvement in key system improvement projects.

What You’ll Do:

- Manage the end-to-end processing of payroll for APO employees, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness.

- Maintain payroll records and oversee payroll transactions in line with enterprise agreements, employment contracts, company policies, and legislation.

- Coordinate mandatory statutory and regulatory reporting requirements, including Single Touch Payroll (STP), WEGA wage data reporting, and ABS surveys.





- Provide payroll-related financial information and insights to support accounting and reporting activities.

- Partner with key stakeholders to lead and contribute to payroll improvement projects, enhancing systems, processes, and reporting outcomes.

- Deliver exceptional customer service and support to employees and leaders on payroll-related matters.

What We’re Looking For:

- 5 years experience in similar role

- Experience with leading projects

- Strong stakeholder engagement

- Experience with SAP and/or Success Factors preferred
