We are a busy, established three-chair dental practice in Point Cook with a growing team of dentists and support staff. We are looking for a Dental Assistant to join the team, with the opportunity for an experienced candidate to step into a Senior/Head Dental Assistant role.

We want someone who enjoys being chairside, takes pride in keeping the day running smoothly and wants to become an important part of the dental team.

The role

As a Dental Assistant, you will:

- Provide chairside assistance across a broad range of general dental procedures

- Prepare surgeries, instruments and materials before each procedure

- Anticipate the dentist's needs and help appointments run efficiently

- Turn over surgeries between patients

- Maintain high standards of infection control and sterilisation

- Process and maintain instruments and equipment

- Monitor and replenish clinical stock

- Support patients before, during and after treatment

- Maintain clean, organised and well-prepared clinical areas

- Assist with laboratory cases and other clinical tasks as required

- Provide occasional reception support when needed

Senior/Head Dental Assistant

For someone with the right experience, this role can include additional responsibility as our Senior/Head Dental Assistant.

We are looking for someone who is not only a strong Dental Assistant, but also someone other team members can look to for guidance. You should be organised, approachable, positive and comfortable taking a leadership role within the DA team.

As a Senior/Head Dental Assistant, you would:

- Lead by example and help set the standard for the Dental Assistant team

- Guide, support and mentor other Dental Assistants throughout the day





- Help onboard and train new team members

- Build strong relationships with our dentists, patients and the wider team

- Communicate clearly and positively, particularly during busy periods

- Help create a calm and reassuring experience for anxious or nervous patients

- Keep the clinical team organised and help the day run smoothly

- Maintain consistent surgery setup and clinical workflows across the practice

- Oversee sterilisation and infection-control standards

- Manage clinical stock levels and ordering

- Ensure instruments and equipment are maintained and available when needed

- Identify ways to improve clinical workflows and efficiency

- Take initiative when issues arise rather than waiting for someone else to solve them

Work hours

Our practice hours are:

- Monday to Friday: 8:45am–6:00pm

- Saturday: 8:50am–4:00pm

Availability to work Saturdays is mandatory for this role.

About you

- Is happy to help wherever needed when the practice is busy

Previous dental assisting experience is required

Certificate III/IV in Dental Assisting is highly regarded but not essential.

For the Senior/Head Dental Assistant level, we are looking for someone with substantial dental assisting experience who shows genuine leadership,



works well with different personalities and is confident guiding and supporting other DAs.

No dental experience?

If you don't have dental experience, we welcome you to apply for a dental assisting traineeship with our practice. If you would be interested in completing a Certificate III in Dental Assisting, please mention this clearly in your application.
