Senior Payroll Officer | Aged Care
Fully Remote (Australia based)
We are partnering with a well-established aged care provider based in Tasmania seeking a talented Senior Payroll Officer to join their team on an initial 6-month fixed-term contract. This role is open to candidates located anywhere in Australia, provided you can work within Tasmanian business hours.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing in accordance with payroll schedules
- Ensure payroll accuracy, compliance, and legislative adherence
- Process recent starters, terminations, leave payments, and payroll adjustments
- Interpret awards, allowances, penalties, and employment conditions
- Manage payroll queries and provide exceptional stakeholder support
- Complete payroll reconciliations and reporting activities
- Support payroll compliance requirements including STP, superannuation, PAYG, and statutory reporting
- Maintain payroll records and documentation
- Identify opportunities for payroll process improvements
- Support payroll system administration and troubleshooting where required
- Assist in mentoring and supporting payroll team members
Key Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar end-to-end Senior Payroll Officer position
- Strong hands-on experience with Chris21 payroll software
- Experience with Optima rostering systems highly regarded
- Extensive knowledge of payroll systems and processes
- Current knowledge of payroll legislation, compliance requirements, and payroll best practices
- Strong understanding of payroll calculations, reconciliations, and reporting
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience working within complex, award-based environments
- Demonstrated team leadership or team management experience
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work autonomously in a remote environment
- MUST HAVE fulltime AUSTRALIAN WORK RIGHTS
Highly Regarded:
- Experience within Aged Care, Healthcare, NFP, or other highly regulated environments
- Exposure to Enterprise Agreements and modern awards
- Experience supporting payroll system enhancements, upgrades, testing, or process improvements
