Traffic & Transport Engineer

Northern NSW | Contract / Casual | Immediate Start

We are currently seeking an experienced Traffic & Transport Engineer to join a local government engineering team on a contract/casual basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Traffic & Transport Engineer to provide specialist technical advice across development assessment, traffic, transport and road safety matters.

The role is available for an immediate start, with the initial engagement running through to 18 December, with potential for further work in January and February.

The Role

The key focus of this position will be supporting development assessment referrals, including:

- Reviewing traffic impacts associated with development applications.

- Assessing car parking requirements and traffic generation.

- Reviewing developer contributions and associated transport considerations.

- Providing advice on road safety matters.

- Providing traffic and transport advice to planners, designers, management and other internal teams.

- Responding to customer service requests and enquiries, including Councillor requests.

- Supporting active and public transport issues and small projects.

- Working with the Local Transport Forum.

- Liaising with the Signage and Linemarking team.

- Providing practical technical advice and recommendations across a range of traffic and transport matters.

There is no requirement for staff supervision or management,



with the successful candidate working as part of a small engineering team.

About You

We are looking for someone who has:

- A Bachelor of Engineering, Graduate Diploma or equivalent qualification in Traffic and/or Transport Engineering.

- Demonstrated experience in traffic and transport engineering.

- Strong experience in development assessment / DA referrals and traffic impact assessment.

- Knowledge of traffic generation, car parking, road safety and transport planning.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

- The ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a small engineering team.

- Local government experience is highly regarded.
