A. S. Holmes Library - Procurement & Subscriptions Librarian

This role is part of the Economic Group, Economic Research Department and is based in the A. S. Holmes Library, Reserve Bank of Australia.

About the team

The A.S. Holmes Library is home to a team of highly-skilled information professionals who support the operations of the Bank by collecting, curating, and delivering verifiable and accurate information to a variety of departments.

What you will do

As part of this highly regarded team, the Procurement & Subscriptions Librarian is primarily responsible for overseeing the assessment, negotiation, and acquisition of external information resources including data services and subscriptions for the Bank's Economic Group and A.S. Holmes Library.

As a valued member of the team, you will:

- Consult with stakeholders to gather requirements for data and information resources to support the Bank's policy and research work.
- Manage complex data and information subscriptions contracts through their lifecycle. This will include co-ordinating the negotiation, licensing and permissioning of services, as well as payments.
- Work closely the Bank's Procurement, Finance and Legal teams, along with our internal clients and external vendors, to ensure efficient and accurate management of contracts and related documentation.
- Develop and implement expenditure and usage reporting related to subscriptions.
- Liaise with stakeholders regarding subscription trials, renewals and risk management of electronic information resources.
- Participate in current awareness distribution activities, from a wide variety of internal and external sources
- Advise on compliance queries for content use to meet information needs and support the operating activities of the Bank.




- Build and maintain internal and external professional networks and keep track of relevant developments in the library sphere.

About you

- You will have extensive experience in contract management and acquisitions, working with internal and external stakeholders across a wide range of formats such as bibliographic databases, e-journal packages, data sets and news sources
- A university degree with postgraduate library qualifications, or a bachelor's degree in librarianship, or currently enrolled and working towards completion of equivalent qualifications with extensive experience in a similar role is preferred
- Awareness of information and data governance frameworks and policy and an understanding of licensing, contract terminology and copyright
- Demonstrated ability to organise and manage data, information and knowledge assets using information management tools, such as library management systems and content management systems
- Experience with procurement in academic, corporate or government sector libraries
- Demonstrated ability to work openly and dynamically within a team and foster a culture of knowledge sharing
- Strong problem-solving skills, influencing skills, curiosity, and confidence to suggest and implement initiatives
