Outdoor Horticulture Program Facilitator

$60 per hour + super | 12-Month Casual Opportunity | Sydney

Hours: Shifts are generally around 4 hours, with frequency potentially around once per week during peak operational periods

This is a casual, needs-based prospect, making it well suited to horticulture professionals, community educators and experienced outdoor facilitators looking for adaptable work.

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Outdoor Horticulture Program Facilitator to join Sydney City Farm and deliver engaging hands-on programs for corporate teams, volunteers and community groups at Sydney Park.

This is an exciting prospect for someone who enjoys combining education, horticulture and community engagement in a practical outdoor environment.

About the Role

Working under the direction of the City Farm Learning Facilitator, you will help deliver team activity programs and support groups participating in a range of hands-on farm activities.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Welcoming groups and providing an introduction to Sydney City Farm

- Delivering site inductions, safety briefings and participant training

- Leading walks and tours through Sydney Park

- Preparing and setting up activities and materials

- Facilitating practical horticulture and urban agriculture activities

- Supervising participants during farm activities

- Supporting activities including planting, weeding, watering and sheet mulching

- Working in the propagation nursery

- Assisting with produce harvesting





- Teaching participants about composting, seed saving, beneficial insects and sustainable gardening

- Packing down and cleaning up following programs

- Supporting program evaluation and continuous improvement

You will work autonomously while being part of a small, hands-on team. The role involves working outdoors in a range of weather conditions and requires a good level of physical fitness, including the ability to stand for the duration of shifts and undertake some manual handling.

About You

We are looking for someone who can confidently engage and educate a diverse range of participants and who has practical knowledge of horticulture and sustainable gardening.

To be successful, you will have:

- Knowledge of horticulture, urban agriculture, organic gardening and/or community gardens

- Demonstrated experience teaching, facilitating or working with volunteers in an outdoor environment

- An understanding of accessible and inclusive programming and diverse learning needs

- The ability to identify health and safety risks and confidently conduct site inductions and safety briefings

- Current Police Check or willingness to obtain

- Two employment references

- A commitment to sustainable practices and community engagement
