Perigon Group is partnering with a well-established, not-for-profit organisation that provides essential services to communities across Australia.
They are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to take ownership of a complex payroll function, lead an established team and drive improvements across systems, processes and controls.
The Role
You will lead a team of four and oversee multiple payroll cycles for approximately 1,500 employees.
This is a broad leadership role combining end-to-end payroll delivery with compliance, award interpretation, process improvement and project work.
The Responsibilities:
- Leading, mentoring and developing a team of four payroll professionals
- Overseeing accurate and timely end-to-end payroll processing
- Interpreting the SCHADS Award and other relevant modern awards
- Ensuring compliance with payroll legislation, policies and statutory obligations
- Maintaining and improving payroll systems, processes and internal controls
- Driving automation and continuous improvement initiatives
- Supporting internal and external payroll audits
- Preparing payroll reports, journals, provisions and operational dashboards
- Providing wage-cost analysis and payroll insights to senior stakeholders
- Partnering with Finance, People and Culture, ICT, Operations and Workforce Planning
- Managing relationships with external auditors, the ATO, superannuation providers and salary-packaging partners
The Requirements:
- At least five years’ experience in a comparable payroll leadership role
- Strong working knowledge of the SCHADS Award
- Previous Micropay experience
- Experience managing payroll within disability, NDIS, aged care, healthcare or community services
- Experience leading and developing a payroll team
- Exposure to large, complex and award-based workforces
- A robust understanding of payroll legislation, compliance and governance
- Demonstrated process-improvement or payroll project experience
- Strong Excel, reporting and payroll data skills
- The confidence to partner with senior executives and operational stakeholders
- A proactive, hands-on and solutions-focused approach
