About the Team
The AEC has a dispersed network of 150 electoral divisions across all States and Territories. The State Office in Western Australia is conveniently located in Perth city centre and metropolitan areas, and the Northern Territory Office is located in Darwin.
For the delivery of a federal election or local by-elections, staffing rapidly expands to help manage the increased workload around risk management, fast-moving project work and logistical activities, media and public scrutiny.
The Electoral Service Officers (APS3) and Electoral Service Support Officers (APS2) support the Team Leader and work alongside a small dynamic team.

The functions include processing special categories of enrolment and contributing to the planning and project management of key election activities including recruitment, staffing and leading the delivery of a number of projects, ensuring communication flows seamlessly and accurately to the Team Leader.
During an election, the Service Officer and Service Support Officer may also be required to supervise a small team as well as provide training to aid in the delivery of planned activities.
The Electoral Service Officer positions (APS 3) are full time, and the Electoral Service Support Officer (APS 2) positions are part-time roles, with full-time arrangements activated during periods of electoral event activity.
