Position: Principal Geotechnical Engineer

Location: Any Australian office

Role Overview:

We are looking for a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join our Geotechnical team in any of our office location in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth; you will work collaboratively towards delivering high-quality solutions and result.

To ensure technical delivery of projects, including risk and quality management. The candidate should have experience in the completion of advanced geotechnical analysis, development of technical documents (reports) for key clients throughout various project execution phases (pre-feasibility,



feasibility, mine operations, site assessment, remediation, and decommissioning/closure). The candidate will demonstrate credible professional levels of work output, maintain, build, and further develop client relationships as part of project delivery and business development. The candidate should have experience in managing and executing geotechnical projects in diverse mining environments.

Skills and Competencies:

Core functions

- Contribute strong technical expertise across a range of open pit and/or underground mining methods and environments.
- Provide consulting support and practical engineering solutions to clients.
- Provide technical leadership, guidance and mentoring to engineering teams.
- Prepare, review and provide technical assurance for reports, designs and project deliverables.
- Undertake geotechnical investigations, analysis, modelling and risk assessments.
- Collaborate effectively with clients and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Deliver high-quality reports,



presentations and project documentation.
- Support project management activities and uphold AMC’s values and standards.
- Conduct site visits and field investigations as required.

Competencies

- Strong technical expertise in geotechnical engineering within the mining and resources sector.
- Proven consulting experience with strong analytics, integrative, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including high-quality report writing.
- Strong experience in geotechnical analysis, modelling and design.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a client-focused approach.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and support team development.
- Adaptable , open to new ideas and committed to continuous improvement.
- Proficient in relevant mining software and general computer applications.
- Solid client, stakeholder and relationship management skills.
- Ability to lead, mentor and collaborate effectively.
- Sound commercial awareness and understanding of project delivery.
- Commitment to quality, safety and professional standards.

Qualifications and experience

- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Geotechnical Engineering, Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum 15 years’ experience in open pit and/or underground mining with a strong technical and practical focus.
- Demonstrated capacity to work independently, coupled with strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
- Commitment to high ethical standards and professionalism, with values aligned to those of AMC.
- AusIMM CP status in geotechnical engineering would be highly regarded.
