Timbertop (approximately 245 students) is a boarding campus for all Year 9 students, located near Mt Buller in Victoria's Alps. All teaching staff live on the campus and students spend the entire year at Timbertop taking part in hiking, recreational and community service activities.

About the Role

The Deputy Head of Campus | Boarding is a newly created senior leadership position that plays a pivotal role in creating a safe, supportive, and enriching residential experience for students. Reporting to the Head of Campus| Timbertop and working closely with the Deputy Head of Campus | Program, this role provides strategic and operational leadership across student wellbeing, pastoral care, boarding operations, family engagement, staff leadership, and campus life.

Leading within a unique residential environment, the Deputy Head of Campus | Boarding fosters a culture where every student feels known, valued, connected, and supported to thrive both personally and academically.

What You Will Be Doing

Student Wellbeing & Pastoral Leadership

- Lead the pastoral care and wellbeing framework across the campus.

- Provide visible and accessible leadership within the 24/7 boarding environment.

- Oversee the management of student wellbeing, behavioural, and safeguarding matters.

- Ensure effective case management, documentation, and follow-up of student matters.

- Contribute to critical incident preparedness and response.

Student Culture, Engagement & Development

- Foster a positive and inclusive campus culture where students feel a strong sense of belonging.

- Lead initiatives that amplify student voice and engagement.

- Coordinate wellbeing education and preventative programs.





Family Engagement & Community Partnerships

- Build strong and trusted relationships with students, parents, and families.

- Lead communication regarding significant student wellbeing and pastoral matters.

- Partner with families and external providers to support positive student outcomes.

Staff Leadership & Team Development

- Lead, mentor, and support boarding and pastoral staff to deliver exceptional student care.

- Build staff capability through coaching, feedback, and professional development.

- Provide expert guidance on student wellbeing, behaviour management, and safeguarding matters.

- Foster a collaborative and student-centred team culture.

Boarding Operations, Compliance & Risk Management

- Ensure consistency and quality across boarding operations and pastoral practices.

- Oversee compliance with boarding standards, policies, and safeguarding requirements.

- Support campus safety, security, and risk management processes, including oversight of CCTV systems.

- Use data, feedback, and incident trends to drive continuous improvement.

- Maintain high standards of reporting, record keeping, and operational compliance.

Campus Leadership & Strategic Contribution

- Actively contribute as a member of the Campus Leadership Team.

- Contribute to strategic planning and continuous improvement initiatives.

- Support the ongoing development of campus facilities, resources, systems, and services.

- Undertake other duties commensurate with the position.

What We Are Looking For

You will be an experienced educational or boarding leader with a passion for student wellbeing and development. You will bring:

- Demonstrated leadership experience within a boarding, residential, educational,



or student wellbeing setting.

- Solid understanding of adolescent development, pastoral care, safeguarding, and student wellbeing practices.

- Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.

- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

- Sound judgement and the ability to effectively manage complex and sensitive situations.

- Strong organisational and operational management capabilities.

- A commitment to building inclusive communities where students can thrive.
