Build Your Career with ABA Automatic Gates

At ABA Automatic Gates, we're not just looking for someone who already knows gate automation—we're looking for a great technician with the right attitude, strong practical skills and a desire to build a long-term career.

With over 30 years of experience, ABA Automatic Gates is a trusted Western Australian, family-owned business specialising in gate automation, access control and servicing solutions across residential, commercial, industrial and strata sectors.

As we continue to grow, we're looking for a motivated Field Service Technician to join our installation team. If you have experience in electrical, security, communications, garage doors, low-voltage systems, mechanical trades or another hands-on technical role, we'll provide the training and support to help you become a specialist in gate automation.

About the Role

This is a hands-on role where every day is different.

One day you may be installing a residential swing gate, the next commissioning a commercial sliding gate or working on an industrial access control system.

Working alongside our experienced technical team, you'll receive ongoing mentoring while developing your skills across installation, commissioning and fault finding using some of the industry's leading automation brands.

Our primary focus is delivering high-quality installations that our customers can rely on, while maintaining the professional standards ABA has built its reputation on.

What You'll Be Doing

- Installing sliding, swing and boom gate automation systems.

- Installing low-voltage cabling, control wiring and accessories.

- Mounting and commissioning motors, control boards and safety devices.

- Programming and testing automation equipment.

- Reading wiring diagrams and following installation plans.

- Ensuring installations meet safety and compliance standards.

- Completing installation documentation.

- Working closely with customers and representing ABA professionally on-site.

What We're Looking For

We're more interested in finding the right person than someone who has already worked in gate automation.

You'll be someone who:

- Takes pride in producing neat, high-quality work.

- Enjoys solving problems and working with your hands.

- Has strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.

- Is confident using tools and working independently.

- Communicates well with customers and teammates.

- Is motivated to learn new skills and develop your career.

- Holds a current Driver's Licence.

- Can provide a National Police Clearance if requested.

- Has the legal right to work in Australia.

Experience in any of the following will be highly regarded:

- Electrical

- Security

- Access Control

- Garage Doors

- Communications

- Industrial Controls

- Low Voltage Systems

- Mechanical Installation

- Auto Electrical

- Fire & Safety Systems

Experience with gate automation products such as Centsys, Ditec, FAAC, BFT or similar is advantageous, but not essential.

Training & Development

At ABA, we genuinely invest in our people.

You won't be expected to know everything on day one. We'll provide structured training and ongoing mentoring to help you develop your skills in:

- Gate automation systems

- Access control

- Commissioning and programming

- Fault finding

- Installation best practice

- Customer service

- Product knowledge across leading automation brands

Our goal is to help you build a long-term career with ABA.

Why Join ABA?

At ABA, we're building more than automated gates—we're building a great team.

You'll join a supportive, family-owned business where teamwork, professionalism and continuous improvement are genuinely valued.

We Offer

- Secure full-time employment.

- Competitive hourly rate based on experience.

- Fully maintained work vehicle.

- Mobile phone and uniforms.

- Comprehensive product and technical training.

- Ongoing mentoring from experienced technicians.

- Variety of residential, commercial and industrial projects.

- Friendly, supportive team culture.

- Genuine long-term career opportunities within a growing WA business.

Is This You?

If you're a motivated technician who enjoys quality workmanship, learning new skills and wants to build a long-term career with a respected Western Australian company, we'd love to hear from you.

Whether you're already working in automation or looking to apply your existing trade or technical skills in a growing industry, ABA Automatic Gates offers the chance to learn, develop and be part of a team that values its people.

Apply today and build your future with ABA Automatic Gates.
