About the role
A unique opportunity has become available to join the team of Stillwater, a 26 year old business alongside the hotel part of the business which was established in 2019. Stillwater Seven is seeking an experienced and hands-on Hotel Manager to lead the day-to-day operation of a multi award-winning luxury hotel in Launceston, Tasmania comprising of seven rooms. Located above the award-winning Stillwater Restaurant, Stillwater Seven offers a highly personalised guest experience in an intimate setting. This is a varied, full-time role where no two days are quite the same, combining hotel operations, guest service, team leadership and practical day-to-day involvement across the property. The role is predominantly morning and afternoon work, with no regular evening shifts.
This is a genuinely hands-on Hotel Manager role with responsibility for the smooth running of Stillwater Seven and its seven rooms. You'll lead a small hotel and housekeeping team while also being actively involved in guest service, housekeeping standards, reservations, revenue, administration and the practical needs of the property. Liaising with the restaurant team is an important part of day to day operations. The role is varied and suits someone who enjoys moving between different parts of the operation throughout the day.
You'll also play an important role in the ongoing development of the hotel, contributing ideas, improving systems and processes, developing guest experiences and helping drive occupancy, ADR and overall commercial performance.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the daily operation of the hotel and support a small hotel and housekeeping team
- Deliver a warm, personalised guest experience from enquiry and booking through to departure and post-stay
- Oversee reservations, room allocations, rates, occupancy and booking activity
- Coordinate housekeeping, room presentation and cleanliness standards, while remaining hands-on where needed
- Manage rosters, recruitment, stock, purchasing and general hotel administration
- Handle guest enquiries, requests and feedback
- Curate and coordinate hotel packages, guest experiences and offerings
- Develop and foster relationships with suppliers and external partners
- Monitor commercial performance including occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, revenue and sales opportunities and provide reports to owners.
- Work closely with the restaurant and kitchen teams, with a requirement to assist Front of House during service and support restaurant operations as needed
About you
- Previous hotel or accommodation experience is essential
- Previous restaurant experience and basic barista skills are essential
- Experience leading, managing and supporting staff
- Highly organised, reliable, punctual and able to manage competing priorities
- Positive, approachable and genuinely hospitable, with a strong focus on guest experience
- Comfortable working across hotel operations, administration, housekeeping, guest service and restaurant support
- Proactive, practical and solutions-focused, with the confidence to use initiative and make decisions
- Calm and adaptable when things change or unexpected issues arise
- Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards
- Strong computer literacy and confidence using PMS, POS, reservation and rostering systems as well as other business software

Ideally, the candidate would be available to commence in October to shadow the current Hotel Manager with transition due to occur mid November. A week or two learning restaurant operations would be preferred to begin with which could be on a casual basis with full time work commencing and expected towards the end of November.
