About the role
Working as part of the Nerang Neighbourhood Centre team, you will take responsibility for the operational coordination of our Food Service. Each week, our Food Service supports local individuals and families experiencing financial hardship and food insecurity. Behind that service is an incredible team of volunteers, relationships with food donors and suppliers, and a busy operation involving food collection, storage, packing and distribution.
Key responsibilities
Coordinating, supporting and developing our Food Service volunteer team
Recruiting, inducting, rostering and recognising volunteers
Coordinating weekly food collections, deliveries, storage, packing and distribution
Maintaining relationships with food donors and suppliers at an operational level
Overseeing stock rotation, refrigeration, freezer and food-storage requirements
Ensuring food safety, temperature monitoring, cleaning and WHS requirements are consistently maintained
Maintaining volunteer, stock, client-service and operational records
Coordinating equipment, resources and the physical Food Service setting
Identifying and resolving operational issues before they become problems
Providing regular operational reporting to management
About you
Genuinely enjoys working with and supporting volunteers
Can coordinate different personalities, responsibilities and schedules
Highly organised and comfortable taking ownership of an operation
Communicates warmly and respectfully with people from all walks of life
Can maintain accurate records and follow established systems
Understands the importance of food safety, WHS and compliance
Notices what needs doing and gets on with it
Can remain calm when plans change
Understands that dignity matters when supporting people experiencing hardship
Experience in food safety or food-service operations would be highly regarded
About us
Nerang Neighbourhood Centre is a busy, grassroots community organisation supporting people and families across the Gold Coast. Alongside our Food Service, NNC provides community support, youth services, financial and emergency-relief assistance and other practical programs designed around what our community actually needs. We are supported by a committed team of staff and volunteers and have been part of the Nerang community for many years.
