Job Description
A leading developer and operator is seeking a spot trader to join its high-performing trading team.
They have a significant and growing portfolio of renewable generation and storage assets across the National Electricity Market (NEM), with a strong pipeline of projects in development.
Key Responsibilities
Support the optimisation and trading of electricity assets within wholesale electricity markets
Contribute to bidding, dispatch and short-term trading strategies aligned to portfolio objectives
Monitor market conditions in real time and assist with trading decisions across spot and ancillary service markets
Work closely with internal stakeholders to coordinate asset performance and trading outcomes
Apply and develop automated or algorithmic trading approaches where relevant
Experience
1–3 years' experience in energy trading, trading support, or market operations
Exposure to energy trading, dispatch,



or market operations within electricity markets
Experience with adaptable assets such as battery storage, demand response, or generation optimisation
Familiarity with automated bidding or algorithmic trading tools
Strong analytical capability, including use of Python, R, SQL or similar
Understanding of ancillary service markets and their interaction with trading strategies
Direct exposure to real-time energy markets and trading decision-making
