As the Senior Solicitor, you will play a vital role in providing expert legal advice across a broad range of local government matters. Working closely with senior leaders and key stakeholders, you will manage complex legal issues, represent Council in courts and tribunals, and help mitigate legal risk across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities
Provide authoritative legal advice on complex and sensitive local government matters.
Conduct advocacy and represent Council in courts and tribunals, including the Land and Setting Court.
Prepare and manage litigation, including court documents, evidence and external counsel.
Review, draft and negotiate contracts, agreements and legal documentation.
Advise on governance, compliance, probity and legislative obligations.
Identify and mitigate legal risks while supporting organisational objectives.




Deliver legal guidance and training to internal stakeholders.
Monitor legislative changes and provide practical advice on potential impacts.

About You To be successful in this role, you will possess:
Admission as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of NSW (or immediate eligibility).
Significant post-admission experience in litigation, advocacy and complex legal advisory work.
Robust knowledge of local government legislation and regulatory frameworks.
Experience providing strategic legal advice within a large and complex organisation.
Exceptional communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
The ability to work autonomously while partnering effectively with executive and operational teams.

Experience within NSW local government, planning, environment or property law will be highly regard
