About the role The Registered Nurse (RN) works collaboratively within the general practice team to provide high-quality, patient-centred primary health care services. The RN plays a key role in health promotion, disease prevention, chronic disease management, immunisation, wound care, and patient education, while supporting GPs in the delivery of comprehensive care.
Key responsibilities
Provide comprehensive, evidence-based nursing care in accordance with the NMBA Standards for Practice.
Conduct patient assessments and contribute to care planning and review.
Administer vaccines and medications safely in line with the Australian Immunisation Handbook and practice protocols.
Perform wound assessment, management, and dressing.
Undertake ECGs, spirometry, urinalysis, and other diagnostic tests as required.
Assist GPs with minor procedures and maintain aseptic technique.
Monitor patients with chronic conditions (e.g., diabetes, asthma, COPD, hypertension) and participate in care plan preparation and reviews (GPMPs and TCAs under MBS).
Provide patient education and health coaching on lifestyle modification, preventive care, and self-management.
Maintain accurate and timely patient records in the clinical software (e.g., Best Practice, Medical Director).
About you
Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse (Division 1).
Current CPR.
Experience in general practice or primary health care (desirable).
Proficient computer and clinical software skills.
Able to work Autonomously
