Plastico & Hackett Engineering is looking for an experienced CNC Machinist/Programmer to join our team on the afternoon shift at our Torrensville workshop. This is a casual role offering full-time hours, ideal for a skilled tradesperson who wants consistent work with the flexibility casual employment provides.
About the RoleYou'll be responsible for setting up, programming, and operating our Mazak CNC machines to produce quality parts to specification, working largely unsupervised during the afternoon shift.
Key Responsibilities• Program, set up, and operate Mazak CNC machines (3 axis and 5 axis mills, Intergrex and lathes) from engineering drawings
Edit and optimise CNC programs to improve efficiency and part quality
Perform first-off and in-process inspections using standard measuring equipment
Troubleshoot machining issues and make adjustments to programs/offsets as required
Maintain tooling, perform basic machine maintenance, and keep a clean, safe work area
Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
Work independently and manage production priorities during the shift
Complete production records and quality documentation accurately
What You'll Need• Proven experience as a CNC Machinist/Programmer (mills, lathes, or both)
Mazak machine experience strongly preferred – Mazatrol programming knowledge highly regarded
Solid understanding of G-code and CNC programming
Ability to read engineering drawings and work to tight tolerances
Confidence working autonomously with minimal supervision
Robust attention to detail and commitment to quality
Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious
Trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering/Fitting & Machining (or equivalent experience)
