About The Role

Supports the SEA 4000 Phase 6 Hobart Class Destroyer Combat Systems Modernisation program, delivering the Aegis Baseline 9 upgrade, including ballistic missile defence capability, across HMA Ships Hobart, Brisbane and Sydney, in partnership with the Commonwealth, Lockheed Martin Australia, Navantia Australia and Saab Australia.

The Electronic Warfare and Sensors Engineer provides design assurance support for the EW and sensor suite elements of the DDG Combat System Upgrade.

Key Responsibilities
Conduct independent design assurance reviews of EW and sensor subsystem designs, including radar, electronic support measures, electronic countermeasures and identification systems.
Verify sensor and EW design outputs are traceable to approved requirements.
Assess detection range, frequency coverage and electromagnetic compatibility assumptions, analyses and margins.
Review integration with the Aegis Baseline 9 combat management system.




Assess EMC/E3 considerations across sensor, EW and communications systems.
Identify design risks, non-conformances and open items and track these through resolution.
Support System Requirements Reviews, Preliminary Design Reviews and Critical Design Reviews.
Coordinate with Lockheed Martin Australia, Navantia Australia and Saab Australia engineering teams.
Contribute to verification and test planning.
Define acceptance criteria and review test procedures and results.
Prepare design assurance evidence and reports supporting Commonwealth technical reviews, audits and certification activities.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic or Communications Engineering, or related discipline.
Experience in EW, radar or sensor systems engineering.
Design review/design assurance experience.
Working knowledge of RF/microwave systems, radar principles and EW fundamentals.
Understanding of EMC/E3 principles.
Requirements traceability and verification experience.
Familiarity with DOORS, Jama or equivalent.
Solid analytical and technical writing skills.
