We are looking for a kind, dependable and friendly person to provide companionship and light household support for an older lady in her own home in Old Beach. The role is for five hours per day, Monday to Friday, while her family is at work. Mum is mobile with the assistance of a walker and currently manages her own toileting and personal care.
This is not a nursing or intensive care role—we are primarily looking for someone trustworthy to be present, provide company and offer a little practical support during the day.
Key responsibilities
Providing friendly companionship and conversation
Being nearby to offer reassurance and assistance if needed
Preparing a easy lunch, snacks and drinks
Light housekeeping, such as washing dishes, tidying, laundry and changing bed linen
Encouraging protected movement around the home
Letting the family know about any concerns or changes in wellbeing
About you
Patient, warm and comfortable spending time with an older person
Previous experience in aged care, disability support, nursing, home assistance or a similar caring role would be helpful, but a genuinely caring nature and reliability are equally important
A current National Police Check, or willingness to obtain one
Current First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain it
Reliable transport
Positive communication skills in English
