Fortis Talent is partnering with an established Sydney commercial construction business looking to appoint an experienced
Project Manager
to join its growing projects team.
This is a great opportunity for a PM who enjoys
variety rather than being pigeonholed into one sector or project type
.
The project portfolio is genuinely diverse – spanning
commercial fit-outs and refurbishments, remedial works, building upgrades, fire damper and compliance upgrades, minor works and broader commercial construction projects
across Sydney.
You'll take ownership of projects from initial handover and planning through procurement, construction and final completion, working closely with clients, consultants, subcontractors and the internal delivery team.
This is a
hands‐on PM role
. You won't be one of several PMs sitting across one large project – you'll have genuine ownership, direct client contact and responsibility for driving your projects to a successful outcome.
The Role
Depending on project size and complexity, you may manage an individual project or a portfolio of smaller works concurrently.
Your responsibilities will include:
Manage projects end-to-end across programme, cost, quality, safety and delivery
Coordinate subcontractors, consultants, suppliers and internal site teams
Develop and manage project programmes, procurement and key milestones
Maintain solid relationships with clients and key project stakeholders
Manage project budgets, forecasting, variations, progress claims and commercial outcomes
Oversee design, services and technical coordination where required
Identify and manage project risks, compliance requirements and delivery issues
Drive projects through practical completion, handover and close‐out
About You
We're open-minded about where you've come from.
You may currently be working with a
commercial builder, fit-out/refurbishment contractor, remedial builder, projects/minor works division or specialist contractor
and be ready to take broader ownership of projects.
What matters is that you're a
capable, hands‐on construction PM
who understands how to get a job delivered.
Ideally, you'll bring:
Proven Project Management experience within commercial construction
Experience across
fit-out, refurbishment, remedial, building upgrade or compliance works
Strong understanding of construction methodology, programming and subcontractor management
Commercial capability across budgets, procurement, variations and forecasting
Confidence managing multiple trades and stakeholders rather than one isolated package
Ability to work autonomously and solve problems without needing layers of management around you
A practical, adaptable approach – comfortable moving between different project types, sizes and scopes
Why Consider It?
If you've spent your career delivering the same type of project repeatedly, this role offers something different.
You'll gain exposure to a
mixed portfolio of commercial construction projects
, from fit‐outs and refurbishments through to remedial and compliance‐driven works, giving you broader technical and delivery experience.
You'll also join a business where you can have genuine ownership of your projects, work closely with senior management and clients, and be recognised for the outcomes you deliver.
Salary is $150k-$180k + super, depending on experience.
If you're a hands‐on Project Manager who enjoys variety, autonomy and taking ownership of projects from start to finish, we'd love to hear from you.
