About the role
n
This field-based position involves working at various locations throughout Victoria and interstate, with occasional overnight stays away from home.
n
Your responsibilities will include:
n
n
Liaising effectively with Engineering Supervisors and field personnel
n
Operating drilling rigs and ancillary equipment safely and efficiently
n
Conducting auger, washbore and wireline diamond drilling
n
Performing in-situ testing, including SPT, Vane Shear and DCP testing
n
Collecting U-tube,



bulk and other geotechnical samples
n
Completing routine equipment inspections and maintenance
n
Identifying and resolving mechanical issues
n
Working effectively within a small field team
n
Travelling to metropolitan, regional and interstate project locations
n
n
Essential requirements
n
Applicants should have:
n
n
Demonstrated experience as a Geotechnical Driller
n
Experience with geotechnical drilling, testing and sampling
n
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
n
A strong commitment to workplace health and safety
n
Suitable physical fitness for field-based work
n
Good communication and teamwork skills
n
A reliable, motivated and practical "can-do" attitude
n
Professional references
n
Willingness to travel and occasionally work away from home
n
n
Australian applicants should hold an appropriate truck licence. Overseas applicants should hold an equivalent heavy-vehicle licence and be willing and eligible to obtain the required Australian licence.
n
Candidates must be based in metropolitan Melbourne or be willing to relocate to Melbourne if successful.
n
Desirable experience
n
Preference may be given to applicants with:
n
n
Operational experience with Geoprobe, Comacchio or Hanjin drilling rigs
n
A Class 1 or Class 2 Victorian Water Bore Licence
n
An equivalent overseas water-well drilling qualification or licence
n
Experience working on remote or interstate projects
n
Experience maintaining and troubleshooting drilling equipment
n
