Job Description

Laboratory Technician/Scientist with a solid background in molecular biology and hands‐on experience in Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) workflows. This role will play a key part in the preparation, processing, and quality control of genomic samples, supporting both bacterial metagenomic and human genomic testing pipelines.

Key responsibilities

Perform end-to-end NGS workflows, including genomic library preparation, DNA quantification, and quality control (QC)
n
Process samples across bacterial metagenomic, human whole genome, and/or SNP panel targeted sequencing applications
n
Operate and maintain NGS platforms (Illumina and/or MGI)
n
Ensure all testing is conducted in accordance with laboratory quality standards and accreditation requirements (e.g. NATA/ISO 15189)
n
Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with laboratory SOPs
n
Collaborate with the broader Molecular and Microbiology teams to support timely, accurate result delivery
n
Contribute to method validation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives
n

About you

n

n
Bachelor's degree in Science or Biomedicine, majoring in Molecular Biology (minimum requirement)
n




A Master's or PhD in Molecular Biology or a related field is highly desirable
n
Demonstrated experience with NGS workflows, including bacterial metagenomic and/or human whole genome and/or SNP panel targeted sequencing
n
Practical experience with genomic library preparation, DNA quantification, and QC processes
n
Experience with Illumina and/or MGI sequencing platforms
n
Bioinformatics knowledge or experience is highly desirable
n
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and accuracy
n
Excellent organisational skills and ability to work effectively within a team workplace
n
Sound understanding of laboratory safety and accreditation requirements
