Job Description
Environmental Consultancy | East Coast, Australia | Full-Time Our client is a well-established environmental and occupational health consultancy delivering trusted technical advice to clients across mining, construction, manufacturing, government, and industrial sectors.
They are growing their East Coast team and looking for an experienced Principal Senior Occupational Hygienist to lead technical projects and mentor staff.
About the Role
As Principal Occupational Hygienist, you'll take the lead on complex occupational hygiene assignments — from scoping and fieldwork through to team management, reporting and client presentation.
You'll work across a varied client base, manage your own project portfolio, and play a key role in further developing our hygiene service line.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and lead occupational hygiene monitoring programs, including airborne contaminants (dust, silica, asbestos fibres), noise, vibration, thermal comfort, and indoor air quality
Conduct site assessments and exposure monitoring in line with relevant Australian Standards and WHS legislation
Manage client relationships and act as a technical point of contact
Participate in report and peer reviews
Mentor and provide technical oversight to junior hygienists and field technicians
Contribute to proposals, tenders, and business development initiatives




Ensure all fieldwork and reporting meet quality, safety, and NATA/accreditation requirements
About You
Tertiary qualification in occupational hygiene, environmental science, health science, or a related discipline
Certified Occupational Hygienist (COH) status through the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists (AIOH), or actively working towards certification
Minimum 8+ years' experience in occupational hygiene consulting or a similar industry role
Solid working knowledge of Australian WHS legislation, exposure standards, and relevant monitoring methodologies
Proven experience managing projects and client relationships independently
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical findings for non-technical audiences
Current driver's licence and willingness to travel to client sites, including occasionalregional/interstatetravel
Demonstrated ability to mentor a diverse team across multiple locations
