Job Description
We are looking for a hands‐on Senior Cloud Operations Engineer to join a large and well‐established organisation and play a key role in the operation, security and continuous improvement of its cloud environment.
n
This is not a pure DevOps or Kubernetes role. We are looking for someone with a strong Cloud Operations mindset who is comfortable operating production environments and brings experience across ITSM, security operations and cloud cost optimisation.
n
What you'll be doing
n
n
Operate and support a large‐scale Microsoft Azure environment, ensuring performance, availability, reliability and security.
n
Take ownership of day‐to‐day Cloud Operations, including monitoring, incident response, problem resolution, patching and continuous improvement.
n
Work within established ITSM processes, including incident, problem and change management.
n
Support and improve cloud monitoring, observability and operational alerting.
n
Partner with security teams to strengthen cloud security operations, including identity, access, vulnerability remediation and security monitoring.
n
Drive FinOps and cloud cost optimisation initiatives, including identifying opportunities for rightsizing, improving cost visibility and optimising cloud consumption.
n
Automate operational tasks and improve the reliability and efficiency of the cloud platform.
n
Develop and maintain operational documentation, runbooks and support procedures.
n
Support the organisation's evolving use of AI‐enabled workloads and AIOps, including intelligent monitoring, automation and AI‐assisted operational processes.
n
n
What we're looking for
n
n
Solid hands‐on experience in Microsoft Azure Cloud Operations.
n
A genuine operational background supporting production cloud environments, rather than purely project or platform build experience.
n
Experience with ITSM / ITIL, including incident, problem and change management.
n
Strong SecOps / cloud security experience, ideally across areas such as Microsoft Defender, Sentinel, Entra ID, RBAC, Conditional Access, vulnerability management or security monitoring.
n
Demonstrated FinOps or cloud cost optimisation experience, including Azure Cost Management, rightsizing, tagging, reserved capacity or improving cloud cost visibility.
n
Experience with cloud monitoring and observability tools such as Azure Monitor, Log Analytics and Application Insights.
n
Exposure to automation and Infrastructure as Code using tools such as Terraform, Bicep or PowerShell.
n
Experience supporting hybrid cloud and enterprise infrastructure environments will be highly regarded.
n
Exposure to AIOps or AI‐enabled cloud workloads would be advantageous, but you do not need to be an AI specialist.
n
n
Why this role?
n
This is an opportunity to join a team where you will have a genuine impact on how cloud operations are managed and matured. You'll work across the full operational lifecycle, from reliability and service management through to security, automation and cost optimisation.
n
If you're a Cloud Engineer who enjoys being close to operations and wants a role with broad responsibility across CloudOps, ITSM, SecOps and FinOps, we'd love to hear from you.
