Position Title: Mechanical Engineer / Technologist (full‐time)
n
Location: Brisbane, QLD, Australia
n
Salary: 110,000 per year, excluding superannuation
n
Hours: 40 hours a week
n
Position Summary:
n
Enginova Pty Ltd is a multi-disciplinary building services engineering consultancy based in Brisbane, Queensland, delivering mechanical, electrical and sustainability engineering solutions across the education, healthcare, industrial, commercial, retail and residential sectors. Enginova is seeking a motivated and organised Mechanical Engineer / Technologist to join our team and contribute to the design and delivery of heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) and associated mechanical building services. The Mechanical Engineer / Technologist is responsible for producing and coordinating mechanical designs for residential and commercial developments from concept through to detailed design, applying sound engineering judgement to deliver efficient, code-compliant and constructible solutions, and working collaboratively with clients, consultants and other disciplines throughout all project stages.

Responsibilities:
n
n
Prepare mechanical and HVAC design sketches, layouts and documentation for coordination, client review and multidisciplinary consultant approval;
n
Undertake heating and cooling load calculations for residential and commercial building services designs;
n
Perform ventilation analysis and airflow assessments in accordance with relevant Australian Standards and project requirements;
n
Select appropriate mechanical plant and equipment, including air handling units, fans and associated HVAC system components;
n
Coordinate mechanical designs with architectural, structural, electrical and other consultants throughout all project stages;
n
Attend and contribute to design coordination meetings with clients and consultants;
n
Review and mark up engineering designs prepared by other consultants and propose compliant design improvements;
n
Participate in the delivery of projects from concept design through to detailed design stages;
n
Apply engineering judgement to resolve design clashes and ensure compliance with the National Construction Code and applicable Australian Standards;
n
Engage in ongoing career development through seminars, lunch‐and‐learn presentations and industry updates.

Ensure all design and business activities comply with all relevant acts, the National Construction Code, applicable Australian Standards, legal requirements, and organisational policies – code of conduct. Adhere to and set high ethical standards.

Workplace Safety:
n
Report any safety issues identified to the manager and conform to all WHS obligations and safety requirements when performing duties, in the office and when attending project sites.

Key Result Area:

Develop and maintain effective business relationships with co-workers along with all clients, consultants, contractors and suppliers.
n
Ensure all design and business activities comply with all relevant acts, the National Construction Code, Australian Standards, organisational policies, WHS obligations, and ethical standards.
n
Deliver mechanical designs on time, within scope, and to Enginova's quality standards,
ensuring all outputs are reviewed and verified prior to issue.
n

Engineering outputs and project documentation are completed accurately and with minimal errors or rework.

Qualifications:
n
n
An Engineering degree at the level of at least Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) or equivalent;
n
At least 3 years of demonstrated experience in mechanical building services design for residential and commercial developments.
n
n
Knowledge / Skills:
n
n
Highly proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, BIM modelling, ACADS-Camel and Bluebeam;
n
Sound technical knowledge of HVAC, domestic water, plumbing and mechanical ventilation system design, including load calculations, schematics and equipment selection;
n
Familiarity with the National Construction Code and relevant Australian Standards applicable to mechanical building services;
n
Demonstrated ability to coordinate designs across disciplines and provide construction administration support, including RFI responses and shop drawing reviews;
n
Exceptional time management with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage competing project demands concurrently;
n
Strong multi-tasking and organisational skills;
n
An eye for detail and the ability to produce quality drawings and project documentation;
n
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, consultants, drafting staff, contractors and suppliers;
n
Ability to work in a fast‐paced environment whilst undertaking several tasks concurrently.
