As a Cost Manager working within the Project Management team at Pomerleau Construction, you will play a key role in contributing to the financial control and success of major construction projects. Supporting large-scale building and infrastructure projects ranging from $1.5 million to over $1 billion, you will analyze, develop, and manage budgets while helping project teams make sound financial and business decisions.

This role will be based in Halifax, NS with occasional travel to projects in Moncton, NB and Sydney, NS.

What you will do
n
n
Organize and supervise the cost control team on major projects, including task allocation and team development
n
Develop, monitor, and communicate cost control processes and procedures to operational teams
n
Oversee operational dashboards and identify opportunities for budget optimization
n
Ensure the application of Major Project Management methods and recommend improvements
n
Collaborate closely with Construction, Procurement, and Contracts teams
n
Develop strategic and operational dashboards aligned with business objectives and annual action plans
n
Perform in-depth analysis of project performance (progress, entitlements, quantities, key ratios, etc.)
n
Lead proactive cost management activities, including:
n
Budget recalibration
n
Strategic contract management
n
Overhead cost control
n
Management of contractual penalties and variances
n
Manage cost contingencies across:
n
Client budgets (Estimates)
n
Commitments
n
Forecasts and projections
n
Align cost forecasts (CBS) with project schedules (Primavera P6 WBS)
n
Assess financial impact of schedule changes, including delays, compression, and resequencing
n
n
This role could be for you if you have
n
n
Bachelor's degree in Management, Engineering, or a related field
n
10+ years of experience, including 5+ years in a leadership or team management role
n
Strong knowledge of:
n
Project Management Information Systems (PMIS)
n
Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint)
n
Fluency in English and French (written and spoken)
n
Basic knowledge of scheduling, ideally with Primavera P6
n
n
Additional Assets
n
n
Experience in the construction industry
n
Knowledge of systems such as:
n
SAP
n
CMiC
n
Procore
n
Other enterprise financial and cost control systems
n
Familiarity with project controls platforms such as:
n
InEight
n
CostX
n
DESTINI (or similar tools)
n
n
