Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) Grade 2 – Drug & Alcohol Inpatient Unit

Kellyville Private Hospital is seeking an experienced and passionate Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) Grade 2 to join our specialised Drug and Alcohol Inpatient Unit.
n
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced registered nurse to provide advanced clinical leadership while delivering high-quality, evidence-based care to people recovering from substance use disorders. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will play a pivotal role in supporting patients through detoxification, rehabilitation and recovery while mentoring and developing nursing staff.

About the Role
n
As a Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2, you will:
n
n
Provide advanced clinical assessment, planning and delivery of evidence-based nursing care.
n
Demonstrate expert clinical knowledge in the assessment and management of substance use disorders, including the recognition and management of alcohol, opioid, benzodiazepine and other drug withdrawals.
n
Monitor patients throughout the withdrawal process, promptly identifying and responding to clinical deterioration and withdrawal-related complications.
n
Act as a clinical resource and role model for the nursing team.
n
Support and mentor staff through education, coaching and bedside leadership.
n
Coordinate patient care in collaboration with medical, allied health and multidisciplinary teams.
n
Promote trauma-informed,
recovery-oriented practice.
n
Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits and clinical governance activities.
n
Assist with the implementation of policies, procedures and best practice guidelines.
n
Support safe medication management and clinical risk management.
n
Contribute to service development and continuous improvement within the unit.
n

About You
n
To be successful you will have:
n
n
Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse.
n
Postgraduate qualifications in Mental Health - Drug & Alcohol
n
Minimum 3 years' post-registration experience, with demonstrated experience in Drug & Alcohol.
n
Previous experience in a senior clinical or leadership role is highly desirable.
n
Excellent assessment, communication and clinical decision-making skills.
n
A commitment to patient-centred, recovery-focused care.
n
Demonstrated ability to mentor and support colleagues.
n
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
n
Knowledge of trauma-informed care.
n
Experience participating in accreditation and quality improvement activities.
n
