Senior Business Analyst - Workflow Automation
Summary
This role is best suited to candidates who have recently worked as a Business Analyst within an Agile software delivery team and have hands-on experience writing user stories, defining acceptance criteria, managing product backlogs, and supporting sprint-based delivery.
Role Description
Senior Business Analyst
You are an experienced
Senior Business Analyst
with a strong track record delivering as part of an
Agile product or feature team
in complex digital transformation environments, ideally within
banking and financial services
. You bring deep capability in business analysis, requirements engineering, and process improvement, partnering closely with Product Owners, Engineers, Designers, and Operations teams to deliver customer and business outcomes. Experience in
Business or Commercial Lending and/or Operations
is highly desirable.
Key Skills & Experience
Business Analysis & Requirements Engineering
5+ years' experience eliciting, analysing, documenting, prioritising, and tracing business requirements throughout the delivery lifecycle.
Proven ability to translate business needs into
well-defined user stories, acceptance criteria, business rules, and process flows
.
Solid experience managing requirements from discovery through to delivery and production release.
Agile Feature Team Delivery
Demonstrated experience working as the
Business Analyst embedded within an Agile feature team
, partnering daily with Product Owners, Engineers, and QA teams.
Strong experience facilitating
backlog refinement
, Sprint Planning, story elaboration, dependency management, and delivery prioritisation.




Proven ability to write, maintain, and manage user stories in Jira, ensuring stories are appropriately sized, understood, and ready for development.
Experience supporting teams to achieve a high-quality Definition of Ready (DoR) and Definition of Done (DoD).
Stakeholder Collaboration & Process Improvement
Experience working directly with end users, Operations teams, and subject matter experts to design, validate, and optimise target-state processes.
Ability to balance operational, customer, risk, and technology considerations when defining solutions.
Facilitation & Discovery
Ability to lead workshops, interviews, process walkthroughs, and discovery sessions to identify pain points, requirements, opportunities, and business outcomes.
Experience conducting process analysis and translating findings into actionable recommendations and delivery artefacts.
Ability to work closely with Product Owners, UX designers, and technology teams to define and refine digital experiences and workflow solutions.
Experience across workflow, case management, CRM, or process automation platforms is highly desirable.
Tools, Communication & Problem Solving
Advanced proficiency in
Jira and Confluence
, including backlog management, story creation, documentation, and Agile reporting.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Proven analytical and problem-solving skills in complex delivery environments.
Location
Sydney based with the ability to work from Parramatta as required to collaborate with Operations teams.
