Job Description
ScrumCraft is seeking a Lead Microservices and AI Technical Architect to support the Department of Industry, Science and Resources (DISR).

Location: Canberra, ACT (Hybrid with flexible/remote options)

Contract: 12 months + 12-month extension (2 x extensions)
n
Hours: Up to 40 hours/week
n
Clearance: Must be able to obtain Baseline
n
Key Responsibilities
n
n
Provide technical leadership and architectural authority for cloud-native, microservices and AI-enabled platforms
n
Guide adoption of AI across the software delivery lifecycle, including AI-enabled SDLC, DevSecOps, CI/CD, observability and automated testing
n
Drive technology modernisation, microservices uplift, containerisation and enterprise system integration
n
Lead engineering governance, capability uplift and knowledge transfer across multidisciplinary teams
n
Influence system builds, engineering decisions and platform evolution aligned with enterprise architecture and security objectives
n
Extensive experience designing and governing cloud-native, microservices and event-driven architectures in complex enterprise environments
n
Demonstrated expertise in AI engineering,



semantic search, ML solutions and responsible AI practices
n
Strong software and platform engineering capability (DevSecOps, CI/CD, automated testing, observability, security-by-design)
n
Proven leadership in enterprise technology modernisation, platform reliability, scalability and engineering maturity uplift
n
Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with experience leading multidisciplinary teams and senior executives
n
Experience with Kubernetes, OpenShift, AKS, EKS or GKE
n
Experience in cloud platform modernisation, SRE, observability tooling and automation
n
Experience leading delivery in Agile environments and uplifting geographically dispersed teams

About the Program

DISR is establishing its first enterprise Microservices and Event-Driven Architecture foundations and embedding AI-enabled engineering practices across the delivery lifecycle. This role is central to shaping up-to-date engineering standards, platform evolution and organisational capability uplift.
