Job Description
A large-scale utilities and energy distribution business is looking for a Market Systems Database Developer to join their IT team on a 12-month contract.

This role sits within Market Systems, supporting and enhancing the billing and metering systems that keep day-to-day operations running, while a separate program builds out the future-state platform. You'll be backfilling a critical technical capability, working across regulatory initiatives, platform enhancements and business-driven projects.

What you'll be doing
n
n
Design, develop, test and maintain Oracle database and PL/SQL solutions across a complex, high-availability application portfolio
n
Produce and maintain technical documentation, solution designs, deployment guides, operational support docs
n
Troubleshoot, resolve defects and lead root cause analysis on application and database issues
n
Work closely with developers, business analysts and technical analysts through a structured SDLC and design governance process
n
Support environment stability, deployments and vendor release activity
n

What you'll bring
n
n
Strong Oracle database development experience, including PL/SQL
n
Enterprise application development experience, ideally within complex, mission-critical systems
n




Solid grounding in structured SDLC delivery, coding standards, code review, testing, change management
n
Robust troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
n
SQL performance analysis/tuning experience highly regarded
n
n
Highly regarded (not essential)

Oracle Advanced Queuing (AQ)
n
Unix/Linux shell scripting (Bash, Korn Shell, Perl)
n
Billing, metering or electricity market systems experience
n
Regulatory change delivery experience
n
Utilities or energy sector background
n
ITIL practices
