We are seeking a passionate, forward-thinking R&D; Director to join and lead our dynamic team Guide For Residents. This role is ideal for a proven leader who thrives on delivering high-quality software at scale, driving operational excellence, and building high-performing teams.

As the R&D; Director, you will lead multiple teams and cross-functional initiatives focused on building innovative, scalable, customer-centric products that serve a diverse customer base. You'll also work closely with Product and R&D; teams to support adoption of our platforms and tools, enabling faster delivery of solutions and greater value for our customers.

You will play a critical role in shaping and executing our technical strategy, establishing engineering best practices, building successful teams, and aligning development with both short- and long-term business goals.

What you'll be doing:

Lead the strategy, architecture and delivery of GUIDE for Residents, driving AI-powered digital experiences, agent orchestration, knowledge management, voice capabilities, analytics, and integration with local government ecosystems to create measurable customer and community outcomes.
n
Lead and mentor several R&D; teams - Architects & Developers, to deliver roadmap milestones on time and to budget at the required quality level for product releases
n
Drive technical excellence, ensuring architectural integrity, scalability, and high software quality. Including but not limited to architecture, security, programming and quality management
n
Continuously develop and enhance industry knowledge to provide insights and thought leadership around software concepts and configuration
n
Utilise input from customers, market research,



technological advancements and trends to understand customer needs to be able to provide meaningful and innovative input to the Product Roadmap
n
Define and execute strategic plans that align with company goals, balancing immediate deliverables with long-term innovation.
n
Champion a customer-centric mindset, ensuring our products deliver real value and an exceptional user experience.
n
Establish and continuously improve engineering processes, tools, and metrics to enhance productivity and delivery efficiency.
n
Work closely with the Product Success Director, POs and Product Success team to ensure software delivered aligns to the business case and to facilitate required Development Methodology activities
n
Optimise management of resources and reduce duplication in line with deliverable priorities, time frames, cost, people and skills needed.

Develop talent plans to grow and scale the team, including hiring, succession planning, and ongoing capability development.
n
Proven experience leading R&D; or engineering teams in a software product environment.
n
Strong technical background with hands-on experience in architecture, design, and development of complex applications.
n
Demonstrated experience building AI-enabled citizen, customer or digital service platforms, including conversational AI, knowledge retrieval, workflow automation, integrations, and data-driven product innovation at scale.

Demonstrated ability to lead through influence and inspire high-performing teams and ability to anticipate and effectively resolve complex issues
n
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to effectively and maturely communicate and negotiate in writing and verbally with stakeholders across all levels
n
Experience in setting strategic direction and translating it into actionable plans.

Strong process orientation with a track record of driving efficiency and operational excellence.
