About the role
n
Mater Private Hospital Townsville is seeking two experienced, theatre-trained Registered Nurses to take the next step in their leadership journey as Floor Coordinators within our Perioperative Services team. This permanent full-time opportunity is available for an immediate start and offers the chance to further develop your leadership, clinical coordination, and operational management skills within a dynamic and fast-paced theatre environment. Working closely with the Nurse Unit Manager and wider perioperative team,the successful candidate will support the day-to-day coordination of Perioperative Services, ensuring efficient theatre flow, safe patient care, and effective utilisation of resources while contributing to the achievement of departmental objectives.

As the Floor Coordinator you will be responsible for ensuring a safe, efficient, and effective service is provided to patients and Visiting Medical Officers within Perioperative Services on a day-to-day basis. You will provide clinical expertise, direct support and coaching to staff within the department, with a clear focus on the patient experience and quality of services.

Ensuring appropriate staff allocations and skill mix to reflect the changing workload and to meet patient needs.
n
Coordinate all clinical activity to maximize efficiency and ensure staff meal breaks and reliefs are arranged in a timely manner.
n
To act as a clinical expert within the area of work demonstrating specialist knowledge, skills, and expertise.
n
To liaise and co-operate with the wards, other departments, and personnel in the hospital.
n
Work collaboratively with other team leaders in the theatre department in the daily running and organisation of theatre activity and provide support in all clinical areas as necessary.
n
To maintain and raise the clinical standard of care through the process of audit, and as a result implement changes in best practice.
n
Identify and communicate quality improvement ideas to senior staff to enhance patient care.

About you
n
To be successful in this role you will meet the following in the following:
n
n
Current AHPRA nursing registration as a Registered Nurse (no restrictions)
n
Advanced clinical knowledge and experience in a clinical area or specialty applicable to the unit.
n
Minimum of 4 years' experience in Perioperative Nursing.
n
Demonstrated advanced ability to communicate complex and challenging information constructively.
n
A strong work ethic, positive attitude and willingness to role model and promote the Mater values
n
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to liaise with a variety of different stakeholders both internally and externally at various levels
n
Ability to plan and facilitate management of workloads
n
