We are seeking a skilled
Provisioning Engineer
to join our network operations team. In this role, you will take ownership of approved network designs and deliver them through to successful service activation on the live network.
You will be responsible for planning, configuring, testing, and commissioning services across fibre, transport, and IP networks while coordinating with multiple stakeholders to ensure timely, high-quality, and error-free service delivery. The role requires strong technical hands‐on expertise, excellent coordination skills, and the ability to work in a shift‐based environment.
Responsibilities
Take ownership of approved orders from the Design team and deliver them through to successful service activation within committed timeframes
Plan provisioning activities, book change windows, prepare configuration scripts, and verify all pre‐requisites before activation
Configure, activate, and commission services on the live network in accordance with the approved design and change management processes
Coordinate with Field Engineers, NOC, customer technical contacts, and third parties (e.g., carriers, NBN Co, vendors) to ensure end‐to‐end service delivery
Perform thorough service testing and validation against acceptance criteria and obtain customer sign‐off where required
Diagnose and resolve issues encountered during provisioning; escalate to Design, Vendor Support, or senior engineers when necessary
Execute rollback procedures cleanly when required and ensure the network is returned to a stable state
Update inventory, provisioning records, and order management systems accurately upon completion of each task
Produce handover documentation for Service Operations and ensure monitoring and alarming are correctly configured
Provide post‐activation support during the warranty/early‐life period and assist with fault investigation
Work shifts and after‐hours change windows as required, following on‐call and escalation procedures
Identify recurring provisioning issues or process gaps and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
Comply with workplace Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies and procedures at all times
Actively contribute to process improvement initiatives and suggest enhancements to workflows and best practices
Undertake any other duties and activities as requested by the line manager or as required by business needs
Education
: Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, Computer Science, or related engineering field (Diploma with solid relevant experience may be considered)
Experience
: 4–8 years of hands‐on experience in network provisioning and service activation within a telecom or service provider environment.
Technical Skills
Hands‐on configuration and provisioning of Juniper (MX), Cisco, and Nokia devices
Strong experience with SecureCRT, WinSCP, and scripting for device configuration
DWDM provisioning experience on Nokia PSS and Huawei platforms using NFM-P and NFM‐T
Working knowledge of Alcatel SDH *****, ****, ****), Cisco WIP routers, Nokia NGTT/NGCE‐AA, and Netconfig roles
Experience with Microsoft Azure and AWS networking, including tunnel creation
Operational knowledge of NBN Portal, One Manage, TEMIP, Voice Switches, and OSS systems
Experience using Cisco Prime for NTU device scripting
Soft Skills
Excellent coordination and stakeholder management skills
Strong problem‐solving and troubleshooting abilities under pressure
Other Requirements
Willingness to work in rotational shifts and after‐hours change windows
Experience working in onshore‐offshore delivery models
Preferred Qualifications
Huawei certifications - NCE-CE (Cloud & Enterprise) and NCE-TX (Transmission)
Experience with fibre, transport, and IP/MPLS service provisioning
